Classic Audio Effects Stumphouse DriveThe enclosures that Classic Audio Effects are known for are some of the coolest around, and we’re super-stoked to be bringing you guys our review of their new gem, the Stumphouse Drive. This inventive brown stompbox defies all pedal building logic, and introduces a rad new way to adjust the gain in your drive, building on the technology they started with their popular line of Volume Roller pedals. A new innovation to add to your ever-growing overdrive collection, this is not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill stompbox.

The Stumphouse Drive is a medium gain dirt pedal, with that one special feature you can plainly see just by glancing at it. The gain roller wheel lets you adjust the amount of overdrive you push into your signal with your foot, making it that much easier to control and switch settings at a moment’s notice. Now, some folks might say that with enough practice (and the right shoes), you can master adjusting the gain on ANY pedal, and that may be true…but why would you want to have to PRACTICE that, when there’s a sweet roller right here in the Stumphouse to make the transitions seamless. You wouldn’t, that’s the correct answer.

Classic Audio have made this a customized and user-friendly option for all your overdrive needs, and aside from being enjoyable to use, it’s not too shabby on the ears, either. In addition to the roller Gain control, the Stumphouse Drive features Volume and Tone control knobs that have been placed on the SIDE of the pedal, keeping them out of the way of the main feature, and letting you set them and not have to worry about kicking them out of place. These controls, in conjunction with the Gain, make for a wonderfully warm and rich gain pedal, that utilizes 3 cascading opamp stages and a symmetrical clipping scheme.

We keep saying that you need to make yourself really stand out in today’s oversaturated pedal market, especially in the Overdrive department, and the crew at Classic Audio Effects has most definitely carved out their niche in our world. Thanks to Curt and the crew for sending this guy over, we’re looking forward to not only rocking this thing out for years to come, but to see what new concoctions they come up with in the not-too-distant future as well!
