Deep Space Devices Red Ghost DistortionKeeping with the theme of heavy and dirty started off earlier this week with the Medor Amps Hurt Circuit Fuzz, today’s featured pedal is an absolute mammoth of a distortion, with an easy-to-use control panel, a versatile array of sounds it can produce and a price tag that will fit any budget around. The Red Ghost Distortion comes to us from Deep Space Devices, and enjoys elements of sludge, doom, metal and even some good old rock and roll. If you’re looking for a “slightly dirty boost” or a “transparent dirt box,” you have definitely come to the wrong place…

The Red Ghost is pretty easy to figure out, control-wise. The big red knob in the middle adjusts both the Volume and the Gain, for quick and easy settings and a boatload of tones to select from. Two toggle switches add some flavor into the mix as well – Shake is a diode switcher that produces either a subtle thrash sound, or a more menacing, fuller distortion. The Mass knob is a bass boost when in the down position, giving you more beefy low end without sacrificing any clarity or tonal enhancement, and a treble boost in the up spot, for punching right through any mix or band situation.

Deep Space Devices LogoSimple and effective, with a small learning curve and tones that will rattle the earth to its core, the Red Ghost is one nasty distortion pedal. The graphics alone will put a wicked scare into you, and then once you engage this undead antagonizer, LOOK OUT! Cheers to the Deep Space Devices crew for this, their first (and currently only) pedal creation. We love how this one came out, and are hoping to see more magical effects come out of their camp for years to come!
