M.D. Effects Warlord OverdriveSometimes, you just need a damn good overdrive pedal to rock your amp with – nothing fancy, no more than three controls and tone that will put a smile on your face for days. Today’s pedal comes to us from new friends M.D. Effects, makers of some of the funnest gear we’ve had the pleasure to review recently, and a company who knows what it means to have a simple drive to just flat rock out. The Warlord started out as a low-gain pedal, but has since been improved upon to become the multi-stage gain machine that stands before you.

The three parameter knobs, Volume, Tone and Gain, represent all that you need to worry about with the Warlord. The internal circuitry has been designed for this pedal to work over numerous musical ideas, and is your basic 3-in-1 dirt pedal. With the Gain set back all the way, you can use the Volume and Tone controls to sculpt a perfect clean boost. Turn that Gain up slowly, and discover numerous stages of overdrive along the way, using the Tone again to perfect your sound. Crank it up all the way, and the Gain gets you into chunky, high-gain territory – not quite Metal Zone, but close enough 🙂

M.D. Effects LogoThe Warlord plays nicely with other pedals, too, making it a perfect fit for any setup or rig. Add in some reverb or delay, and the possibilities here are endless. Cheers once more to the innovators over at M.D. Effects – this third pedal in their lineup keeps the surprises coming, and we’re looking forward to demoing more of their gear here in the very near future. Check out the demo, and then check out their website as well!
