GFI System Clockwork v3 DelayHaving reviewed the first and second versions of today’s wicked awesome delay pedal, we were intrigued to see what this latest V3 would bring, and what new and exciting features would be incorporated. Just when you think there are no more improvements to be made, the guys and gals at GFI System manage to top themselves once again, raining down a fury of tones and relatively easy-to-use and intuitive controls, for a well-rounded and extremely versatile delay pedal. The Clockwork v3 will once again expand your mind, and test the very limits of what you thought was sonically achievable.

The Clockwork offers 7 differing delay algorithms (Digital, Analog, Dual, Diffuse, Ambiental, Multi-Tap 3 and Multi-Tap 4) that can be saved into any one of 8 Preset locations, which are organized into 2 banks. Blend mixes your wet and dry signals, while Time allows you to select different time subdivisions (8th-note triplets, 8th-note, Dotted-8th and Quarter-note), using the Tap Tempo switch to set the overall delay time. Repeats sets the number of times the delay effects echoes, up to near infinite when maxed out.

The Param control gives you TWO options for control over each algorithm mode. These include Modulation Depth and Rate, Stereo Spread, Reverb, Octaves, Playback Head Patterns and more. New to this v3 are a couple of very useful attributes, such as Expression Pedal / Tap Tempo input, a Kill-Dry function, a multi-colored LED for easily identifying the different algorithms, instantaneous tap tempo and more. You can also hold down both footswitches at once to activate the Auto Regen Swell mode, which propels the delayed effects into an entirely new dimension.

Action-and-option packed, all (somehow) crammed into tiny enclosure and just spewing forth killer delays, the Clockwork v3 is by far the best one yet. If you’re looking for a wide variety of delay tones, but want the ability to do Tap Tempo and have presets, but don’t want to use up half your board on one pedal, this is right up your alley. Plus, with an all-analog Dry-Thru, you’ll never lose your original tone when the Clockwork is bypassed. Simple yet complex, small in size but large in stature, this is a delay that truly is not to be missed.
