JHS Pedals Kodiak Tap Tempo TremoloIt’s been a minute since we had a new pedal from JHS Pedals come through the shop, but they’ve reappeared with a brand new effect that sure to get the tremolo/vibe folks salivating. The Kodiak is a Tap Tempo Tremolo pedal, complete with a ton of bells and whistles that will suit anyone looking to add a fat, bold, pulsing effect to their lineup or board. Boasting subdivision note control, 4 differing waveform choices, external controls and more, this tan gem has more sounds to unleash than a brown bear searching for food after just waking up from a long winter’s slumber…

Volume gets things going, and sets the overall output for the Kodiak. Turn it down, have it the same as your bypassed signal or give it a bit of a boost if need be. Mix blends in the tremolo effect with your dry signal, too – turn it all the way down, and you can use the Volume knob to get a preamp or slightly driven boost for your amp and other pedals! Speed determines the Rate of the tremolo LFO, and can be controlled via this knob, or by an external Expression pedal (see the demo below for an example) using the 1/4″ jack on the side.

Need an external Tap Tempo switch instead of an Expression control for the rate? Use the same input jack to connect your switch, and you’re off and running. The Ratio knob gives you the ability to dial in faster speeds that are synced perfectly to your tapped BPM – use Quarter, Eighth, Triplets or Sixteenth-note modes for a wide range of speeds and pulses. The Wave control gives you 4 more options to choose from, this time for the waveform variations – Sine (amp-like), Rhythmic (time-signature patterns), Square (choppy) and Ramp (warbly) each give off their own unique tone, spewing and sputtering different sonic patterns across the room with little to no regard for anyone or anything that may be standing in the way.

JHS Pedals LogoBased on classic Vox and Black Face tremolo circuits, you get all the classic sounds you have been searching for, with the luxuries of modern technology, for an all-inclusive tremolo pedal that will rock your socks off. There are a ton of tonal flavors packed into this extremely pedalboard-friendly unit, making it a perfect fit in any musical setup or rig, live OR in the studio. Thanks as always to our friends at JHS Pedals for another fantastic collaboration – be sure to check out the demo on our YouTube channel below to catch a glimpse of this beast in the wild, then head over to the JHS website to snag this growling pulse machine for yourself….
