Loophole Pedals Rehoused Ibanez DE7 Delay EchoThe DE7 Delay Echo from the Ibanez Tone-Lok series has an interesting sort of lore to it. Not very expensive or super-popular when first released, it has become a true go-to delay for many players around the world, and absolutely debunks the myth that pedals have to be expensive to sound incredible. We have already taken a look at this classic echo pedal, and all it’s functionality, so today we’re focusing on another aspect of pedals that has been gaining more and more popularity over the last 5 or so years: REHOUSING. Sometimes, your favorite pedal might sound fantastic but not look very nice, or the insides are great, but the outer shell and switches are cheap and prone to failure. That’s where companies like Loophole Pedals swoop in and save the day…

The new enclosure on this thing is fabulous: tall, sturdy, thick and oh so shiny, it stands tall to work perfectly in that back row of your pedalboard that isn’t always the easiest to reach. For reference, it rises above the back of our Moog MoogerFooger MF-104M Delay, a feat not achieved by very many pedals, nixing the need for a delay with an external tap switch or other malarkey. The footswitch is upgraded to an industrial clickless one, because it of course should be, while toggle switches are added in place of those hard-to-use slider switches on the original. Upgraded audio jacks, alpha pots and power jack are all standard on this rehouse, and each enclosure is individually powder coated and color UV printed, rounding out one of the greatest rehoused pedals we’ve ever seen.

Loophole Pedals LogoOur buddy Mike Copeland, owner of Loophole Pedals, offers up a number of interesting mods and rehouses via the website (although we’re not sure if they’re still doing this one, as it is apparently quite labor-intensive), and will work with you to get your pedal looking and sounding the best it possibly can. We just love how this DE7 came back to us – clean, crisp, looking shiny and new and sounding better than ever. This is not a pedal to be missed, in general, and if you can make it look this pretty, don’t even think about hesitating.
