The Dirty Boy from Massive Unity Ltd. is just that, a powerful, clean-looking but dirty-sounding effect that is powered by T.A.E. (proprietary tube amp emulation) technology. Based on the amp used by legendary guitarist Blues Saraceno, which was built by his dad, this pedal features two different modes, a bunch of options and a whole slew of sounds that you’ll immediately fall in love with.
The Dirty side of the DIRTY BOY features Gain, Tone and Volume controls. There’s also a large knob right in the center of the pedal that adjusts the “Percentage of Maximum Output Voltage,” which leads to some dips and boosts in tonal structure. The Boost section, also footswitchable and independent of the Dirty side, features a lone boost control, capable of adding up to +20dB of power to your signal, for a pristine, non-colored volume enhancement. The Dirty Boy features a Variac simulator, True Coil Transformer by LAA Custom, a jack for external control and a speaker-emulated output, which mimics a closed-back 4×12 cabinet loaded with Greenbacks.
Extremely useful in both recording and live situations, the Dirty Boy is an amazing package trapped inside an ultra-compact design.
