We had the opportunity to check out a good chunk of the pedal lineup from Deadbeat Sound a couple months ago, and were more than impressed with their group of multi-functional, affordable pedals. Today’s featured effect is both of those things, with a simple control structure and more-than-affordable pricing. The Delay Lay Lay (great name) is an analog delay that doesn’t mess around with frills, but will give you plenty of thrills….
The Mix, Time and Rate knobs are about as easy as it gets in the parameter department. With a short but ample max delay time of 360ms, this pedal is geared towards slight enhancement of your tone, not necessarily to get super-crazy or conjure up out-of-this-world types of echoes, but it is extremely useful regardless. Another feature not too often seen in a pedal this small or in a price range this low is the ability to get into infinite repeat, self-oscillation territory, which is always welcomed by the majority of delay pedal users.
Warm, haunting and lush tape-like echoes are the name of the game here. And, if you can’t tell when you watch the sweet demo below, this pedal is SMALL, measuring just 60 (W) X 96 (D) X 55 (H) mm, about 2/3 the size of a standard Boss pedal, for comparison. Perfect for fitting into any tight spot of a pedalboard, and coming in costing under $60 BRAND NEW, the Delay Lay Lay is a complete package in a small enclosure.
