Walrus Audio Jupiter Fuzz V2 The Jupiter Fuzz has been a staple in the lineup of Walrus Audio‘s effects lineup for years now, and today we’re going to take a look at the newest incarnation of this monster of a fuzz. This gritty, thick and loud beast comes roaring right out of the gates, with enough gruff and gusto to put fear into any amplifier, while also remaining adjustable and useable in many different musical scenarios. With new artwork and a couple of potent updates, the Jupiter V2 remains an absolute powerhouse force to be reckoned with….

As with the original version, Jupiter V2 presents the same control panel: Level, Fuzz and Tone are the knob choices here, while two toggle switches add more tonal structure to the mix. The Mode switch changes between three separate clipping diode selections, which produce different combinations of fuzz and tone. The Bass toggle is a low-end cut switch that helps even things out with those lower frequencies.

As for the updates, there are a few to discuss, and they all add to the overall power and tonal enhancement of the Jupiter Fuzz. The amount of gain on tap has been adjusted, which is never a bad thing, and the adjusted Volume knob makes it easier to get to a unity sort of volume when engaging the pedal. The Tone knob has been altered to improve the high frequency response, and a gate control has even been added, which will help to tame noise and even achieve those classic “dying battery” types of sounds, via an internal trim pot.

While the original was pretty bad-ass in its own right, the improvements made to unleash the Jupiter Fuzz V2 on the world make it a new and different animal, for the better. The fuzz is thick and gooey, there’s a ton of sustain available if that’s your thing and the tonal improvements make it feel and sound so much better than you’d ever think possible. For a hint at some of its sonic prowess, please check out our tasty demo below, and, as always, head over to the Walrus Audio website to check out this and the rest of their awesome pedal lineup!
