The effects pedals coming out of Eau Claire, Wisconsin from Dwarfcraft Devices have been exquisite for years now, and their two newest endeavors keep that train a’rollin’. The first of these is the Treeverb, a multi-purpose reverb pedal with that classic Dwarfcraft spin, adding in some noise, some pitch-shifting, of course, and an intuitive control section that anyone can use with ease. Combining three separate reverb modes into an extremely compact and pedalboard-friendly enclosure, with jacks on top, no less, the Treeverb is a true force to behold, and one that’s wicked inspiring as well.
There are four parameter controls that grace the top portion of the Treeverb, each one adding its own unique spin on a classic effect. Starting off, Mix blends your dry signal with the ‘verb for all the modes. In the Hall mode, Length sets the width of the effect, Tone will produce darker or brighter overall sounds, Character acts as your pre-delay control. Pitch mode gives you the ability to add in two pitch shifters, one an octave up and one an octave down. This immediately leads to big, bold, ambient booms of sound, ones that just gobble up your signal and spit it out through your amp in the most creative of ways.
The Modulated mode features a slew of “atmospheric, woozy and sci-fi sounds.” A Reverb with Chorus added in, this mode is any modulation lover’s dream. Big, thick, lush sounds pour out in this mode, going from slight chorus on top to gigantic vibrato tones in an instant, filling the practice space, downstairs bar or Wembley Stadium with some of the most gorgeous circulatory rhythms you’ve ever heard. From straight reverb to slap back delay sounds to pitch-infused craziness to thick modulation and more, the Treeverb absolutely does NOT mess around.
