JHS Pedals Panther Cub Analog Delay V2

We really dug the first iteration of the Panther Cub Analog Delay from JHS Pedals, as it took everything we knew and loved about the original Panther Delay and condensed it, along with adding in a couple more features. As is the hip thing these days, halving the size of the first model wasn’t taking it far enough, so JHS produced the Panther Cub V2, which is half the size of the half-sized Panther Cub 1/1.5… Got that? Anyway, this newest baby blue gem has all the same sparkle and shine as the others, with that classic dark, brooding analog sound, along plenty of modulation on tap.

New to the Panther Cub V2, however, is the ability to turn the Mix completely Wet, cutting out your Dry signal completely. This delay also offers 1,000ms (or one full second) of delay time, which is huge for an analog creation of this type, and the Volume knob lets you set the overall output level. There’s an active EQ knob, a Feedback knob to control the repeats, which has been dialed in for smoother oscillation and run-away repeats when maxed out. The Ration knob gives you 4 options for your note division as well, letting you select quarter, dotted-eighth, eighth or triplet divisions.

The Panther Cub V2 features four 3205 Bucket Brigade chips as well, for 100% analog delay technology and superior sound quality. The Modulation can be turned On/Off via a switch on the side of the pedal, and can also be set to Slow or Fast via a second switch located there, too. Use the onboard Tap Tempo switch to set your delay times on the fly, or use the jack on the side for external Tap Tempo capabilities. This jack also acts as an Expression jack, letting you plug in your favorite expression pedal and control the Time, Ration or Modulation with a sweep of your foot. You can even use a TRS splitter cable for a Dry Out option, creating a stereo field of sound.

True bypass, top-mounted jacks and pedalboard-friendly as all get up, the Panther Cub V2 really takes everything you love about all your analog delays, and crams it into a tight, comfortable and exciting package. If they try to cut this one in half, it might not work, but who knows with these guys, right? Check out our other JHS Pedals reviews and demos here as well!
