Richtone Amplification Overdrive

Sometimes, you find a pedal treasure out of the blue, one you’ve never heard of before and have absolutely ZERO idea about what it is or sounds like. Today’s pedal is one of these. From a perhaps-defunct company, the aptly-named Overdrive comes to us from Richtone Amplification, with very little info to go on, or any internet chatter at all, really. However, once we plugged it in, we couldn’t believe that more people aren’t discussing this little orange beast, and how it can quickly and surprisingly change your tone in an instant.

Designed to deliver a creamy and clear overdriven sound, the Overdrive boasts just two controls, Level and Drive. The sounds it produces are extremely reminiscent of vintage 70’s tube amps, and are a perfect match for blues and country music. You can get a slight bit of amp breakup at lower Drive levels, but if you crank this guy up, it will really get things rockin’. The graphics suggest crazy tones awaiting inside, and the range of sounds available from just two parameters is quite impressive.

We couldn’t find a website, or any social media presence, for Richtone Amplification, but you can still pick up their pedals on Amazon, and on Reverb.com. If anyone has any info on these guys, let us all know in the comments. All that aside, the Overdrive is a KILLER pedal with a price tag under $80 Brand New – pretty hard to beat for this type of tone, folks. Made in Canada and housed in a solid steel case with powder coat painted finish, this is a solid, built-to-last, road-worthy effect – check out the demo below to hear it melt some faces!
