A couple of months ago, we were honored and privileged to review and demo a pedal that was very near and dear to our hearts: the DeLorean Analog Delay from VVco Pedals. Not only was it a nice-sounding delay, it brought back memories from 30+ years ago via one of our favorite movies, Back to the Future. Today, the VVco folks are at it again, this time taking on the superhero genre with their latest, the Dark Knight Distortion.
Housed in an actual 1:24 scale Batmobile vehicle made with durable die-cast metal parts, the Dark Knight Distortion is based on (you guessed it) a classic black distortion pedal from decades past. Featuring the same schematic and analog circuity as the original, the Dark Knight Distortion gives you access to Level, Tone and Drive controls, each with a wide range that lets you dial in your perfect dirt sound with ease. About the same size as a wah pedal, this stealthy black beauty not only sounds awesome, it will be an almost-certain conversation starter at any practice, recording session or gig you bring it to.
True bypass, hand-wired and hand-built, the Dark Knight Distortion is the latest in an already fun lineup of pedals from VVco Pedals. This Batmobile seems to be built as tough as the DeLorean as well, so you won’t have to worry about stomping too hard while rocking the crowd’s faces off. Cheers to the design and build teams at VVco Pedals. for another excellent trip down memory lane, and for a vintage distortion pedal that is rehoused and reimagined, but still sound just perfect.
