ezhi&aka Moomindrone T Drone Delay

So, here’s the thing: we LOVE to review and demo pedals that step completely outside the box, that make their own rules, that completely annihilate everyone’s expectations and conceptions about what effects pedals are supposed to do. Now, the list we currently have is not as long as we’d like it to be, but today’s pedal gets us a start in the right direction. The Moomindrone T from ezhi&aka is a Drone Delay pedal which generates a nice sounding drone buzzing along with your guitar, catching some notes and making them shimmer and sparkle. Sound both fun and confusing? That’s ’cause it is.

This unique pedal features two tap-able Low Frequency Oscillators with various waveforms to modulate the pitch of the drone and/or its amplitude. The modulation can go from subtle to extreme, sounding like your deck is chewing the tape. The controls here are many and, fortunately for us all, completely unlabeled, which adds to the mystique and mystery of this powerful machine. These controls range from Volume, Pitch Depth and Delay Volume to LFO1/2 Speed, Trem-to-Delay Ratios, LFO Waveforms and more. The Moomindrone T consists of two sound engines: a Resonant Drone section and a Lo-Fi Delay section, with two tapable multiwaveform LFOs to modulate them. Each of these engines has a depth knob to control the vibrato depth as well, for wild and explorative modulation sounds.

There’s a Tap Tempo switch for hands-free time settings, as well as an FSR (Force Sensitive Resistor) pad, that you can manipulate into more drone-ish and far out sounds, man. The 10 potentiometers, plus 2 inner pots, the Tap footswitch, pad, and three toggle switches for changing modes add up to a very large variety of settings to be utilized.
