Friday Club ED-450b Echo Machine

The lines of pedals from Friday Club and Mr. Black (the brainchildren of Jack Deville out of Portland, Oregon) have been the topics of many a conversation over the last decade plus, and we love what we’ve been able to check out here at Pedal of the Day. Today’s sonic journey brings us to the ED-450b, a warm, analog-ish delay echo machine from the Friday Club camp that is simple yet powerful at the same time. A real plug-and-play type of delay, this seemingly basic echo has a couple of delicious tricks up its sleeves…

The ED-450b Echo Machine is designed around the PT2399 echo processor, and boasts beautifully warm, organic echo sounds. The three control knobs are what you’d expect from a 3-knob delay pedal: Level, Feedback and Time. The range of delay here echoes (pun definitely intended) the ranges of vintage and classic machines of decades long past, topping out at around 450ms. Another great feature of this delay is the ability to choose from either Trails or Buffered bypass options, making a basic delay into one with added customization, without overcrowding its simplicity.

One more little nugget of fun is the self-oscillation it produces when you crank up the Feedback, a feature not always found in delay pedals not full of knobs and switches and a 100-page manual. More than meets the eye with the ED-450b Echo Machine, people, and the sounds are killer, too. Take a look and listen to our demo below, and check out more Friday Club pedals on their website, to see what they’ve got waiting just for you!
