Henretta Engineering & The Guitar Trader The Valley Reverb Delay

Well, it’s 2-in-1 pedal time again, kids, this time in a collaborative format between two killer companies. Brought to you in tandem by Henretta Engineering and The Guitar Trader (in our very own Asheville, NC), The Valley is a sweet-sounding, experimental Reverb and Delay pedal, combining our two favorite effects into one glorious box. It looks great, it sounds great, it IS great, so let’s delve in and see what wonders await….

Each circuit is separate in The Valley, meaning you can turn the reverb and delay sides on and off individually, or use them together to get into some real wild sonic territory. The Reverb side is controlled by Verb Wet Level and Verb Dry Level controls, while the Delay side boasts Delay Time, Delay Repeats and Delay Level parameters to conjure up its special sounds. The delay time ranges from 10ms up to about 450ms, for a classic analog pedal type of range, with the ability to do anything from tasty slap back to a complimentary echo for gorgeous leads and solo work. The reverb is capable of producing small room sounds, big, lush cavernous echoes and everything in between.

But wait! There’s another awesome addition to this pedal: The Hollar. When this switch is engaged, the Reverb portion is placed within the Delay circuit, so only the delay repeats have reverb on them. This changes the way you approach playing this pedal, and your instrument, as it opens up worlds of possibilities for you to investigate and enjoy. There are even two internal switches to further customize your sound: on sets the delay’s Tone, for darker or brighter repeats, while the other increases or decreases the amount of Decay in the reverb effect.

As with all pedals, you’ve got to hear it to truly understand it, and The Valley is no different. In our demo video below, we take you through a wide array of sounds and tonal structures, presenting a long, informative look at this amazing machine. Be sure to check out Henretta Engineering and their extensive list of effects, and if you’re in or ever swing through the Asheville area, be sure to stop by The Guitar Trader to say hey and peruse their impressive selection of gear as well. Cheers to both of those companies for an excellent collaboration – we hope it’s not your last! Enjoy the demo, and have a great weekend, everyone!
