TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 X4 Reverb

Recently, we had a chance to check out on of the latest creations from one of the most famous pedal companies in the world. The Flashback 2 x4 from TC Electronic improved on one of the best delay families to come out in the last decade or so, to everyone’s delight. Today, we’re going to take a look at the Flashback’s sibling of sorts, the Hall of Fame 2 x4 Reverb. Also making a couple of significant upgrades to its amazing core setup, this super-reverb unit is next level when it comes to ambience, classic tones and new world functionality. Here we go….

As with any pedal this big and this full of modes, choices and options, the best way to figure out what it does is to hear it. Thankfully, we’ve got a LOOOONG demo video below for you to peruse, which explains pretty much everything in depth. However, we’ll run through a quick list of what the Hall of Fame 2 x4 can do for you, as a precursor of sorts, cool?

The MASH buttons that TC Electronic is now famous for let you toggle between reverb sounds with just a little bit of pressure from your foot, and make for fun times creating new ambient sounds on-the-fly. There are TEN quality, studio-grade reverb modes to choose from, including the new Shimmer mode, which uses TC’s own SUB ‘N’ UP OCTAVER in the algorithm to create astonishingly other-worldly sounds with ease. The others (Spring, Room, Hall, Church, Plate, Gate, Modulation, Lo-Fidelity and Ambient) give you more reverb options than you’ll know what to do with – not exactly a terrible problem to have.

Each switch features a Preset with it, and there are 2 Banks of presets available, for a total of 8 easily accessible presets to choose from. Of course, no modern TC pedal would be complete without the TonePrint functionality, and it really comes into play here. Aside from the main reverb modes, there are 6 more reverb slots you can fill up with your favorite TonePrints, either via USB and your desktop, or with your mobile phone and the FREE TonePrint app (we picked out our favorites for the demo, be sure to stay til the end to hear them).

Working flawlessly with both guitar and FX Loop level signals, the Hall of Fame 2 x4 fits perfectly into any rig and musical nook or cranny. The Pre-Delay knob lets you fine tune the reverb response time for more control, there are Expression and MIDI inputs for controlling parameters and switching presets remotely, and the Mono/Stereo Ins and Outs give you optimal versatility in making all the right connections. Plus, the Analog-Dry-Through ensures your original tone stays in tact, even when the Hof 2 x4 is engaged. This thing is a big red beast, folks, one that is so so so much fun to experiment with and dial in all the reverberation sounds you could ever dream of.
