Boss DC-2W Dimension C Waza Craft Chorus

The original DC-2 Dimension C from Boss has always been a kind of hard-to-obtain mystery pedal. Extremely sought-after in the gear community, high prices and relative rareness made it a pedal that we have never been able to check out….until now. Presenting the Boss DC-2W Dimension C Waza Craft! This is one cool effect, giving you a chorus-like attitude, but acting as more of an overall tonal enhancer, it is definitely in a category all on its own. There’s not too much and a lot to talk about at the same time, so let’s dive in…

One of the more noticeable aspects of the original and the DC-2W are its unique push buttons along the lone row of controls. This newer version has been updated with not only more reliable electronic switches and LEDs, but new functionality as well. Whereas with the DC-2, you had four sounds, one for each push button, the DC-2W gives you the ability to mix and match the buttons, two at a time, as you see fit. 1-3? Sure. 2-4? Why not? 2-3? If you insist. There are a total of TWENTY combinations to explore over the span of the pedal’s two modes, so let’s chat about those real quick.

The ‘S’ (Standard) mode gives you all the classic sounds from the vintage DC-2 units, while ‘SDD-320’ provides something a bit different. Based on the legendary Roland SDD-320 Dimension D studio rack units from the 80’s, this second mode opens up sonic possibilities that just weren’t possible on the original. The all-analog audio circuitry keeps everything sounding perfectly pristine but not cold, and a premium buffer and enhanced bypass bring this classic sound into the modern era.

Like we said earlier, the effect here is more of a subtle sound enhancer, not as bold as a true chorus pedal, but more along the lines of a magic touch you never knew your rig needed.
