MXR Clone Looper

A good looper pedal can be the missing piece to a musical puzzle you’ve been building for years, but just didn’t know how to complete. There are a lot of choices out there, some of which can be extremely daunting, especially if you’re new to the looper scene. Thankfully, we’ve got the MXR Clone Looper Pedal to check out today, and folks, this one is easy to use, has some cool features and, most of all, sounds fantastic. And away we go….

As you can see immediately from the layout, the MXR Clone Looper Pedal has just one control knob and two footswitches. Now, you’d think that a pedal with this few parameters might not be able to do what you need it to, and that’s where you’d be incorrect. In addition to the Record/Play/Stop options, you can, as with most loopers, overdub to your heart’s content. In fact, the number of layers here is INFINITE, and you can record for up to 6 MINUTES if need be. The four LEDs make sure you know what mode you’re in and what’s going on at all times, and the lone Volume knob lets you set how soft or loud your loop mixes in with your signal.

But wait, there’s more! You can change the SPEED of the loop, either by slowing it down to half-time, or speeding it up for double-time, which leads to a ton of experimentation. There’s also the always-popular REVERSE mode, where everything gets thrown right out the window and madness slowly takes over, ’cause why not? You can connect a tap tempo switch to the CTR jack to control this functionality, and an EXP jack allows you to set the Volume hands-free. You can even use this jack with a Tap switch to engage Play Loop Once mode, for smooth live performances and re-triggering for days.

Built like a tank for years of abuse, the MXR Clone Looper Pedal delivers higher fidelity signal reproduction than any other looper of its type. You can even choose between True and Buffered Bypass modes, allowing it to fit seamlessly into any rig, studio or jam room. We love the size and the hidden functionality – there’s a lot going on in such a small box, and we try to demonstrate what this silver fox can do in our demo below. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned looper veteran or a noob just getting into the game – the MXR Clone Looper Pedal does it all.
