Mu-Tron Octavider+ Analog Octave Fuzz

The latest version of Mu-Tron has been releasing some incredible pedals over the last few years, including the Micro-Tron Envelope Filter, the Phasor III Optical Analog Phaser and today’s funky machine. The Mu-Tron Octavider+ Analog Octave Fuzz is the newest reincarnation of the classic Octave Divider that Mu-Tron produced in the 1970’s, combining Fuzz and Octave effects for a small but powerful machine.

The Fuzz side features an independent, hi-voltage, high-fidelity fuzz circuit that adds harmonic overdrive tones with one single Fuzz knob. While this may be used independently or in addition to the Octave effect, and by using the Tone and Volume controls on your guitar, many great in-between tones are just waiting to be discovered. As you turn the lone control down, the fuzz and output both decrease, but this is a warm, tasty circuit you want to keep loud and strong if you can.

On the Octave side, there’s a fair amount going on. This newly developed circuitry that analyzes the original signal and “pairs” it with the note one octave below, matching tone color and dynamics over an exceptionally wide range. The unique Stabilize toggle switch activates a circuit that enables the Octavider+ to lock into the musical tone and sound a simultaneous sub-octave with accuracy that is not found in any other device. The Ringer knob provides multiple effects of distortion, extra note generation, and a kind of “octave up” effect.

The Mu-Tron Octavider+ Analog Octave Fuzz tracks steady on guitar, bass, keyboards & horns, and will turn your instrument into a fat monophonic synthesizer. There’s a lot to experiment with: two notes played simultaneously will beat with each other, producing “extra” notes, and you can try parallel fourths, fifths, or other simple chords. Plus, the Mu-Tron Octavider+ Analog Octave Fuzz works wonders with both stringed and wind instruments, making it an all-around powerhouse for any musical genre.
