A couple months ago, we had the pleasure to check out our first pedal from Googly Eyes Pedals. The Synthfuzzizer proved to be one of our favorite non-traditional pedals we’d had around here in a while, and thus we were hooked. For our next venture into their wild world, today we’ve got the Googly Eyes Pedals Delayviator Delay, a wild looking and sounding machine that seems like a regular delay at first, but has a couple of tricks up its sleeve….
The Delayviator, as you can see, has two footswitches. Powered with the famous PT2399 chip inside, the echoes coming from this machine are warm and vintage-sounding. There are volume controls for the Delay and your clean signal located up top, making room for more controls on the face. Here, you can set your Delays and Repeats, as well as the controls for the hidden gem of this pedal.
The left footswitch activates the Rise and Fall portion of the Delayviator, which lets you bring the delay time up quickly or slowly, then return it back to normal after letting go of the switch. The beauty part is, you can set each of these to a different time, resulting in an unlimited number of wild configurations that will inspire and delight. You don’t see this too often in delay pedals, and it’s a feature we can’t get enough of.
The Googly Eyes Pedals Delayviator Delay is an intriguing delay effect, taking a classic sound and putting a unique spin on it. Trippy, ambient and haunting, the tones coming from this box are a welcome addition to our Wide World of Delay, indeed.
