OPFSX Dig Deep Sub-Harmonic Generator

Today’s pedal gets us into some spooky low-end territory, and is as unique an octave pedal as we’ve ever come across. The OPFXS Dig Deep Sub-Harmonic Generator works on just the lower three strings of your guitar, leaving the higher strings untouched and clean. This lets you add in some heavy bass notes, and with all of the options available, you can dial it in perfectly to your rig. It looks like a simple pedal, but trust us, it ain’t…

Adding depth and presence to any guitar signal is always key, and the Dig Deep excels at just that. Use the Dry knob to set the level of your dry signal in the mix, and use Sub to set the level of the lower octave. The low-end here will go from faint and barely audible to powerful and booming, with a nice range in between. The sophisticated circuitry accurately tracks arpeggios and chords, even complex chords and inversions.

The “F” micro button up top has a multitude of functions, the first being the ability to toggle between Fast and Slow attack modes. Hold this little one down, and you enter into a secondary mode, with each knob controlling something different. Turning the Sub dial lets you set the Tone of the sub octave, with 12 options, from dark to bright. If you use the Dry knob, you get 8 different tracking options, adjusting to fit your specific guitar and pickup types. The range here moves from the low frequency register up to the higher end.

You can also use “F” to go between Mono and Split modes of output. In Split, you use a Y-cable to split the Dry and Sub signals, and route them to two different places (we go over this in our demo below). Working great with guitars, the Dig Deep Sub-Harmonic Generator is one that should be experimented with, using all kinds of instruments and input signals. Cheers to the crew at OPFXS on a unique spin on, in our opinion, an extremely important piece of any pedalboard puzzle.
