Sunnaudio RH-1-Rabbithead Preamp Overdrive

The NU-1 Nucleus Preamp from Sunnaudio was our first foray into their lineup of effects a couple months ago, and we were quite impressed by the design and sounds that pedal was capable of. Well, they’re back again with another creation that’s more powerful, has more options and sounds just as incredible as its little sibling. The RH-1 Rabbithead Preamp is a versatile integrative preamp and overdrive that offers multiple tonal features for various instruments, brilliantly working with acoustic guitar with passive or active pickups, electric guitar, bass guitar, electric violin, and just about any other acoustic-electric instrument.

The Rabbithead fetures Volume, Bass and Treble controls, two simultaneous 1/4” outputs which includes one balanced speaker sim output and two switchable world class overdrives along with our Rabid™ grizzled distortion mode. The Focus settings (activated with the In button) adjust the sub-harmonic frequencies to inject back into Clean from overdrive circuit, add to your bass signal, or contour your overdriven guitar sound, while Tone is used for mid-shaping the overdrives.

Turn on the Mix Mode via the left footswitch, and Drive A | B modes can be mixed or used independently for a variety of tones. Toggling back and forth between the 2 Drive settings is extremely useful on stage, and the Mix knob lets you blend the clean and dirty signals to taste. The RH-1 can help get rid of unwanted direct pickup sounds from your acoustic instrument so it can sound more natural but still cut through live, as it is transformer-less, and quiet. The speaker sim can still be used when pedal is bypassed as well.

We dive head first into the RH-1 Rabbithead in our demo video below, explaining all the ins-and-outs and going through each and every knob, switch and button in great detail. There’s a lot to learn about this incredible preamp, and we wanted to make sure to provide as much info as we could. If you’d like to know more, or snag one of these beauties for yourself, head over to the Sunnaudio website and see what lies ahead…congrats to those guys on another wonderful effects pedal – we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
