Lake Effects FVD Overdrive

Three knobs, a toggle and a footswitch. That’s all you need to flat out rock and roll, as today’s pedal will prove. The Lake Effects FVD Overdrive is a mow-mid gainer, based loosely on the Rat distortion philosophy, with an extra option. If you’re looking for an excellent first/second stage drive for your rig, you’re in the right place.

A visually clean and sonically dirty pedal, the FVD Overdrive boasts the classic Filter, Volume, and Drive knobs to control this Rat-style circuit. The versatility in the control knobs allow for a range from low gain boosts to gnarly shoegaze, and lots in between. The Filter knob dials-in everything from bright/classic rock tones to dark and fuzzy drones, while the Drive parameter provides the essential amount of dirt to any setup. Simple design filled with endless combinations, the FVD also plays nice with others, and the top-mounted jacks make it just that much more pedalboard-friendly.

The secret weapon to this overdrive is the Clipping Toggle. To the Right, you get Silicon Diode Clipping; to the Left, Germanium Diode Clipping. Each of these modes possesses its own unique sonic flavor, opening up more possibilities and a wider range of sounds to discover. The FVD Overdrive is handmade in Chicago, drawing inspiration from the people and places of the Great Lakes. We love the minimalistic design and approach to this pedal – check out our demo below to see it in action, and head to the Lake Effects website for more info!
