Mile End Effects Ronald Preamp 150

The MTHRFCKR=RPTR Cassette Tape Delay Preamp was one of our favorite pedals in 2020, and we’re excited to dive back into the world of Mile End Effects once again today. The Ronald PreAmp 150 takes one of the sections of a beloved tone-enhancing unit from the 70’s, pulls it out and gives it to you in a solo pedal presentation. Let’s see if we can discover the rich, full bodied and sparkling tone that this pre-amp provides, shall we?

By studying the original service notes, the Mile End Effects crew have painstakingly recreated how the Roland Space Echo sounds when the pre-amp is saturated. Taking things a bit further, a switchable JFET clean boost has also been added to the circuit to drive the pre-amp harder, getting more gain and volume from the unit. This way, you can use it either as a full-on overdrive pedal, or simply use the pre-amp to enhance just about everything you send to it. These simple but effective controls allow you to achieve the gorgeous sounds that the pre-amp is capable of producing.

A tribute in both sonics and aesthetics, the Ronald PreAmp 150 takes a classic sound, rips it out of an expensive and delicate unit and plants it directly onto your pedalboard. Enhancing your tone in more ways than one, this little gem will provide years of joy and power to any rig. Cheers to all at Mile End Effects on this wonderfully warm and bold preamp – we love the look and sound and everything about this one.
