Today, we’re gonna gaze lovingly into the eyes of the EM-III Multi-Head Octave Echo, which are a bunch of words not commonly heard mashed together. This delay takes us on a crazy sonic adventure, with new and exciting twists and turns around every corner…
The EM-III Multi-Head Octave Echo follows in the footsteps of SolidGoldFX’s Electroman Delay, managing to echo the past, present and future. This creative unit centers around a multi-head tape delay, with octave and modulation, with a range of 70-1000ms of delay time with optional tap tempo. The Color knob takes your tone from a crisp and bright delay down to the murky depth of analog, vintage echo units, for warm, lo-fi repeats. The Flutter knob adds in the tasty modulation right where you need it – turn left for a slow, dreamy chorus-like sound, or right for a faster vibrato tone, which creates lush and organic movement of your sound.
This delay monster also hides away a couple of secret features, Warp and Glitch, which you can access by holding down the Tap switch, the Bypass switch or both at the same time. These hidden gems result in self-oscillation, walls of sound, replication of a tape motor on the fritz, tape reel snapping and much more. Flick the middle toggle to the left to select 1, 2 or 3 tape heads, and flick to the right to turn on/off the Octave feature as well.
Soft-touch, relay-based true bypass switching is here, but you can also opt for buffered bypass if you so desire. Designed to evoke emotion and bring on inspiration, the EM-III Multi-Head Octave Echo is in a delay class all its own. Jumping from analog echoes to crisp and precise modern delays, as well as futuristic and experimental sound paths, this one has something for everyone.
