Smack dab in the middle, we’ve got today’s gorgeous Univibe-esque piece of gear, the R WEAVER FX Violet Vibe Chorus Vibrato. Harkening instantly back to the late 60’s/early 70’s, this purple beauty oozes classic and vintage tones, with specs that honor the original units.
Based on the circuitry from a pari of 1968 Univibes, the Violet Vibe features a full size exact circuit board layout. Utilizing NOS components, including correct spec photocells and bulb, 2SC828 & 2SC539 transistors and greenie capacitors, this one has it all. The Chorus and Vibrato modes, along with Level, Intensity and Speed controls, allow you to conjure up Hendrix, Trower and Gilmour tones literally in a couple of minutes. The Speed knob is big, and placed perfectly for you to move with your foot if need be as well. Bright chorus and swirling, psychedelic vibrato sounds pour out, with a wide spectrum of tonal qualities to choose from and experiment with.
Running on 18vdc center negative power, the Violet Vibe has all the headroom you can ask for. You can even add on a Speed Pedal jack if you so choose, allowing for hands-free rate control from an external pedal, ala the original Univibes.
