Quiet Theory Prelude Delay Reverb

Delay and Reverb have got to be in the Top 3 effects of all time, and when you mix them together into one delicious sonic stew, the results can be downright unbelievable. Such is the case with today’s pedal, the majestic Prelude Delay Reverb from Quiet Theory. This 2-in-1 beauty brings ambience to the forefront instantly, transforming your tone and sound into a delightful array of washes, repeats and overall bliss. We’ve been wanting to dive into this one for a hot minute, so let’s get right to it…

The Prelude Delay Reverb features independent footswitches for each side, allowing you to run them separately or in series. The Reverb side features just two controls, Mix and Decay, which let you dial in a great tone without too much effort. Mix adjusts the amount of wet signal that is added to the dry signal (this works the same for both sides), while Decay sets the size and wash of the Reverb effect.

On the Delay side, you can set the overall delay time with the (surprise!) Time knob, setting the length between the repeats of the delay effect. Working in tandem with this knob is Feedback, which sets the number of echo repeats after the delay effect is produced. There’s also a Tone switch for each of the Reverb and Delay modes, allowing you to choose from three differing tone positions: Bright, Dark and Warm or Darkest.

You can set the Bypass to 2 modes as well: True or Trails. Plus, you can set the footswitches to Burst mode, where the effects are only active if the switch is being held down, which makes for some exciting “bursts” of ambience and delayed notes. For such a seemingly simple (at first glance) pedal, there’s a lot going on with the Prelude Delay Reverb, and exploring is what it’s all about. Love the tones coming out of this one, it’s a real all-in-one ambient machine that sounds fantastic as soon as you activate it. Not sure if these will be made again, as Quiet Theory has sort of disappeared off the map, but we’re here to tell you: it is so choice. If you have the means, we highly recommend picking one up.
