We had the recent opportunity to check out our first effect from Handy FX, the Whiteout Fuzz, and it was an impressive piece of gear. We’re back again today to bring you the next gem in their lineup, the Muskrat Distortion Booster, a powerful 2-in-1 that oozes tone and grit, adding a much-needed punch to any rig. It doesn’t just look rad, folks, it sounds that way, too…
The left side of the Muskrat is based on the legendary black distortion pedal from the 1980s, with a couple of twists. It has a clipping switch that will toggle between three clipping options. In the middle (LED) setting, the eye will light up as your guitar signal passes through the circuit. The Distortion, Filter (Tone) and Volume knobs let you fine tune and create your perfect distorted sound as well.
The right side of the Muskrat is based on the Rangemaster Treble Booster, with an added tone switch to cycle through 3 different input capacitors that affect different tone ranges. The lone Musk knob controls the amount of boost, and will really rev up the Distortion when these sides are stacked together, for glorious sustain and wonderful harmonic feedback!
Hand wired and packaged with care in New Hampshire, we’re head over heels for Handy FX already. Take the Whiteout Fuzz and this Muskrat Distortion Booster, and the front end of your pedalboard is DONE.
