Fancy Wolf Scoop & Scream Parallel Gain Machine

There are times when an overdrive pedal can be “eh, just another overdrive” and there are times when the word “Overdrive” doesn’t even begin to touch what a pedal can do. Luckily, today’s pedal is the latter, coming to use from Fancy Wolf Effects, in the form of the Scoop & Scream Parallel Gain Machine. If you like Fuzz, and Overdrive, and like them IN STEREO, you’ll want to stick around to hear about this one…

The Scoop & Scream is a 3-in-1 Fuzz, Overdrive and Splitter effect. The Fuzz and Overdrive circuits have their own controls, and can be blended PERFECTLY to suit your needs, running in parallel instead of the usual series configuration. The input signal is split, then the Scoop (Fuzz) and Scream (Overdrive) process the signal separately, then are mixed back together at the output. Since adjusting the settings on one side of the circuit doesn’t affect the other, this lets you explore different tone sculpting options that series can’t; such as retaining the clarity of an overdrive while diving into the raw heaviness of a fuzz.

Each side of the circuit has three complimentary voices crafted to harmonically mesh together in interesting ways. Changing the voice toggles on each side of the circuit can either focus on one set of frequencies, or set them to opposites to have them fill in each other’s gaps.

CHEST: Cleans up lows with an emphasis on upper mids
FULL: Full range “flat” response
GUT: Guttural low mid range emphasis

Our favorite part of the Scoop & Scream has got to be the Stereo outs. When you utilize the blue 1/4″ jack on the left side, each voice comes out of a different output jack, allowing you to run them to different amplifiers or channels. This creates a big, full sound, one that can again be dialed in to compliment your particular rig and sound. Recording this way can get you an interesting “double tracked” effect, too, that can fill up more of the stereo field. You’re essentially recording two guitar tones in one take!

You basically just have to hear and see what this thing can do, and we’ve got it all in our demo video below. Putting the Scoop & Scream through the paces, we explore all the nooks and crannies of this wonderful dirt machine, even getting into some Stereo stuff later on (headphones will really do this demo justice). This is our first foray into the world of Fancy Wolf Effects, and if this is how they’re going to start off their lineup, consider us really stoked for the future and more pedals from these guys. Visit their website, follow ’em on the socials and buy a Scoop & Scream at either of the shops below. Cheers!!
