Rare Buzz Effects Cyborg Ukrainian Distortion

We’re honored to be a part of the story for today’s pedal, a special limited edition effect whose proceeds are helping those in need during the current horrible invasion of Ukraine. Rare Buzz Effects has taken their Snitch Distortion and re-branded it with the colors of the Ukrainian flag, as well as Ukrainian text for the control knobs. A little backstory: Cyborgs are Ukrainian servicemen who participated in defense of Donetsk International Airport during the war in eastern Ukraine (26 May 2014 – 22 January 2015), including protecting the Donetsk International Airport (DIAP) They were all volunteers, they were surrounded, and almost all of them died as heroes. This effects pedal brings that fighting spirit to the forefront, with amp-crushing tones and balls-out distortion throughout.

Inspired by the famous Rat, the Cyborg is a high-gain distortion that encompasses many musical genres. Hand assembled using carbon film resistors, WIMA and Nichicon capacitors and a lo-fi Texas Instruments operational amplifier for gain, this one has the vintage grit you’d expect, and plenty of it. In addition to Volume, Filter and Distortion knobs, the Diodes switch allows you to choose from three distinct voices, opening up many more sonic possibilities and experimental sounds.

The sales of this run of pedals culminated in over $9,500 being raised and sent to help Ukraine, and Pedal of the Day is proud to have been able to participate. People are being run out of their homes and separated from their families, and many are being needlessly killed.
