For those of us that really dig the vintage Uni-Vibe sound, but can’t afford to buy (or repair) an original unit, we all probably have a favorite pedal or two that gets that sound done really well. But, did you ever wish that it had something MORE, like maybe, I dunno…REVERB? The brand new J.Rockett Audio Designs Uni-Verb Chorus Vibrato Reverb takes these two gorgeous effects and smashes them into one reasonably-sized enclosure, bringing sounds from decades past right into 2022…

The Uni-Verb is a modern twist on the classic Uni-Vibe, with added features to enhance an already amazing effect. The Uni-Verb recreates the classic sounds you would expect, but J. Rockett have also added a spring reverb to make it drip even more. This pedal runs at 24v like the original, but that is achieved internally: you only need to use a standard negative 9v supply, making it much more convenient. The classic Uni-Vibe sounded best before drives and swirly effects, so a built-in effects loop enables you to separate the Vibe effect from the Reverb effect and put drives, fuzzes or whatever you choose between the Vibe and the Verb, via the loop.

Some of the features of a classic Uni-Vibe left it a little basic such as a lack of control over the turnaround of the effect. With the Uni-Verb, you can make the turnaround choppy or smooth. There are two separate controls for the Chorus side, allowing you to tweak the intensity of the turnaround and one control for the Vibe side. Both are routed to an output control that goes very slightly louder than a classic Uni-Vibe output control. Lastly, the Uni-Verb will vibe/chorus faster and slower than a classic Uni-Vibe unit. The Reverb side gives you basic spring reverb controls made to emulate a classic “Tank Reverb” sound from the 50’s with Reverb and Dwell controls.

A pedal like the Uni-Verb Chorus Vibrato Reverb, with all the switches, knobs and options, needs a good deep dive to explain and demonstrate what it can do…luckily, we have just that thing in our video below. This machine can shape your tone, add in a bit of sonic flavor or take you on a bumpy seasick ride into modulated glory…and lots of other stuff, too. Cheers to our friends at J. Rockett Audio Designs on a glorious rendering of one of the most famous effects in music history – it looks and sounds marvelous, and the addition of the reverb is the icing on the cake.
