It’s been a minute since we had a pedal from Cusack Music in the shop, but today’s effect from their lineup comes absolutely roaring back into action. The Meta Plexi Distortion Boost, as the name might suggest, follows in the footsteps of a certain hallowed, classic amplifier preamp, instantly transforming your tone and sending you back to classic rock and metal heydays gone past. Plug in, crank up, annoy neighbors, melt faces. DONE.
As with the amps from which it is based, the Meta Plexi features Volume and Gain controls, along with a classic 3-band EQ, consisting of Treble, Middle and Bass parameters. A Vintage/Modern toggle switch provides you with a couple different voicings as well, but this thing really kicks into high gear when you engage the Lead channel. Coming after the distortion section, this mode gives you selectable +3, 6 or 9dB of volume boost, without adding an extra saturation, for slicing and dicing any mix that gets in your way. True bypass circuitry, an all-analog signal path and silent switching are just extra icing on the sonic cake for this powerful and expressive machine.
High quality build, gorgeous sound, vintage look and feel…the Cusack Music Meta Plexi Distortion Boost has got it all. If you’re looking for that particular sound, but can’t shell out a ton of money for a vintage amp, this pedal is right up your alley.
