Today, we’re going all in, taking a look at not ONE, not TWO, but THREE new effect boxes from our friends at Sundance Electric. The Cassidy Drive + Boost, Clean Fuzz V2 and Harmonic Incubator each bring a different flavor of unique dirt sounds to your pedalboard, featuring wide-ranging sounds easily conjured up by simple control sections. Lots to explore, let’s see what they’re all about…
The Cassidy Drive + Boost is a 2-in-1 overdrive and boost pedal. The Overdrive (left side) is based on the famous “gainster” circuit also known as the “Klon killer”. it has Volume, Tone and Gain controls. The OD has a slightly mid-pushed “Tweed” sound and feel, that really enhances your signal in all the right ways, without overwhelming your original tone. The Gain and Tone controls interact with each other in a sweet way to achieve the perfect sound you’re looking for. The Boost side (right switch) is a one knob clean boost circuit that simply boosts what you already have. It can be run independently, or you can stack it into the OD side to add more dirt/grit. Perfect for lead tones.
The Clean Fuzz V2 is a super versatile fuzz pedal that is killer for both guitar and bass. Go from sweet dirty boost all the way to thick creamy fuzz. With the Clean knob maxed out you get a sweet boosted tone, but as you dig into your guitar splashes of fuzz will break through in epic fashion. With the Clean knob all the way down you’ll get a thicker, more compressed fuzz that is killer for lead tones and punching out of the mix. The Clean knob really allows you to dial in the perfect amount of gain your looking for. The Clean Fuzz is very touch sensitive and reacts to your playing, volume, and tone controls in an amazing way.
The Harmonic Incubator is a take on the infamous harmonic percolator circuit. This distortion/fuzz circuit utilizes both NPN and PNP transistors, and creates only even order harmonic saturation. This circuit gets big and nasty while still retaining punch and clarity, but can also clean up and give you some pretty epic overdrive sounds as well. Go from an epic smooth fuzz to a mid pushed distortion that breaks up as you dig into your guitar.
