Ohmless Pedals AKC-4 Overdrive

It’s been a looooong time since we had an effect from Ohmless Pedals come through the shop, but good gravy, was it worth the wait. The AKC-4 Overdrive takes on a certain mystical, mythical horsie-related circuit, taking it a few steps further than your average klone for what may be the most versatile type of this circuit out in the world today. The AKC-4 Overdrive delivers 4 different clipping options, for a wide range of possible sounds from low- to mid-range distortion. These 4 modes are available via footswitch or MIDI (a welcome option for an overdrive pedal, for sure), and include Klon, Schottky/Silicone, Silicone and Mosfet options to choose from. The Boost section can be added pre or post overdrive to further shape your sound and stand out in the mix, offering 20dB of clean headroom for you to dial in.

The Treble and Bass parameters let you set the perfect EQ, and the Blend knob mixes the effect signal with your original dry signal to taste. The MIDI jack has multiple functions as well, letting you turn the OD or Boost on/off, select the clipping options 1-4 and shift the Boost from Pre to Post Drive, depending on what you need. There’s also an Internal mute circuit (35ms during switching operations), which can be activated or deactivated as you see fit.

Utilizing soft switches and true bypass circuitry, the AKC-4 Overdrive really has got all your needs in this effect department covered. I can’t remember encountering a more versatile Klon-type of pedal in the past, and just love all the sounds this one is capable of producing.
