EarthQuaker Devices Astral Destiny Octave Reverb

It’s always a treat when a pedal from EarthQuaker Devices makes its way into the shop here at Pedal of the Day, and today’s effect keeps that streak rolling strong. The Astral Destiny Octave Reverb combines two classic and comparable effects into one pedal, making it easy to experiment and explore just how these two genres interact. Lots of knobs, lots of tone and lots of fun, let’s dive a bit deeper and see what this thing can do…

The Astral Destiny is a compact and powerful modulated octave reverb pedal that features 8 reverb modes with 8 editable presets, assignable expression control, tails for natural reverb decay when the effect is bypassed and a super cool stretch feature that doubles the length of the reverb while adding an adjustable pitch bending effect.

The Reverb modes includes Abyss (huge reverb with no octave effect), Shimmer (adds an upper octave to the reverb tail), Sub (adds a lower octave to the reverb tail), Sub Shimmer (adds an upper and lower octave to the reverb tail), Astral (adds an upper and lower octave combined with a regenerating tail), Ascend (upward pitch bending), Descend (downward pitch bending) and Cosmos (adds a regenerating fifth to the reverb tail). You can operate in either Live Mode or Preset Mode, which gives you access to one of EIGHT on-board preset settings, via a rotary knob. Don’t forget about the Stretch footswitch, too, which doubles the length of the reverb effect while adding a temporary change in pitch (tap for an immediate pitch change; hold for a temporary pitch bending effect).

Toss in trails or full bypass switching, along with a Expression jack for hands-free control over Length, Depth, Rate, Tone or Mix, and you’ve got one incredible pedalboard-friendly machine.
