Fox River Devices Spring (Seasonal Drive Series)

After we saw the Autumn and Winter overdrive pedals from Fox River Devices in their respective seasons, it’s only logical that the next one in this series would be….SPRING!! The third member of the Seasonal Drive Series, Spring is a low to medium gain overdrive with a max gain of approximately 44dB. It can be used as a clean (or clean-ish) boost at lower gain settings and a subtle overdrive with the gain turned up…

Green LEDs provide just a bit of symmetrical clipping crunch when you dig into the Spring. The EQ is slightly mid focus to help tighten up low end and tame harsh highs. Mid-range will increase gradually as gain is increased to help provide clarity. However, the EQ remains relatively flat overall, unlike other green colored overdrives you might be familiar with. While Spring is the most transparent-sounding pedal in the series, it is not based on the Blues Breaker topology that so many other transparent sounding overdrives are. Spring is a similar concept, but has its own unique sound and place within the seasonal drive series.

As George Costanza once described Spring: “Rejuvenation, Rebirth, everything’s blooming, all that crap.” Well, there’s no crap here, just an amazing overdrive pedal that fits in perfectly with the rest of the Seasonal Drive Series. Cleaning up nicely with your guitar’s Volume knob as well, you can really fine-tweak this guy to get the EXACT boost/drive sound you’ve been searching for.
