The Dreivoost All-Tube High-Gain Boost was created when Will from EEIDI FX / Third Age Amplifiers saw Fluff (Ryan Bruce) and Ola Englund on YouTube using TS style pedals to boost their Dual Rectifiers, and realized the amplifier tone could be preserved 100% by using a tube boost. The Dreivoost is an all-tube boost running at 300vDC using a standard 9vDC center negative power supply. It has one standard gain stage plus a cathode follower for clean, low impedance buffered output. Like an amplifier, it requires an on/off switch and has a toggle for Treble/Full range EQ. It’s simple, dead quiet, and can throw a TON of gain at your amp.

With the I/O control off, it passes your signal just above unity. From 0-5 is a clean boost, and from 5-10 the gain ramps up considerably and starts compressing a bit. Think of it as a tube version of what people use a Tube Screamer for with high gain amps. It can be used just to warm up your tone going into a DAW or solid-state amp as well.

Utilizing just one knob and one tone toggle, you’d initially assume that the Dreivoost is a one-trick pony…well, you’d be right, but it does that one thing REALLY REALLY WELL. Pushing a good tube amp into just before or just beyond breakup is a magical thing to be able to do, and this crimson gem gets you there with ease and with gorgeous tone.
