Elysian Pedals It's Not Brain Surgery Octave Fuzz

The crew at Elysian Pedals sent us over a couple of effects to check out, and we’re stoked to bring you the first one today. The cleverly-titled It’s Not Brain Surgery Octave Fuzz combines two classic effects into one versatile pedal, one that sounds killer on both guitar and bass. Basically a 2-In-1, this inventive machine will take your tone to the unknown and beyond…

The Octave side features a couple of knobs and a switch, starting with the High and Bass Filters, which adjust the higher and lower octave frequency signals, respectively. Blend acts as a Wet/Dry mix, and the Modulate switch lets you add in some octave modulation. This heavily increases very low frequency response, and is best used with subwoofers and/or bass speakers.

The Fuzz side provides Level (master volume), Clean (wet/dry mix), Tone (high frequency cut/boost) and Fuzz (distortion gain) knobs, for a wide array of fuzzed-out glory. Each of these effects is independent, but when you use them in tandem, there’s a Fuzz > Octave / Octave > Fuzz switch, used to determine the order they run in. Combining the two is where it’s at, bringing a new range of sounds to explore and create with.

The It’s Not Brain Surgery Octave Fuzz pedal brings the thunder, and from the first moment we plugged it in, it had a special quality that made making the demo below a real joy.
