TC Electronic Ampworx JIMS 45 Preamp

Today, we continue our journey of the exploration of the Ampworx Series of preamp pedals from our friends at TC Electronic. We’re looking at all six effects in the series (so far), starting with their three latest releases, and moving through the previous three, over the last several weeks. Let’s keep it going today with the JIMS 45 Preamp, a beast that faithfully recreates the sound of a 1965 Marshall JTM45 tube amp, for the best and most precise digital amp modeling of this famous amp you have ever run your guitar through……

The JIMS 45 is a true-to-life digital simulation of a 1965 Marshall JTM 45 tube amplifier, created using TC Electronics unique AMPWORX modeling technology. Every detail of the original tube amp has been lovingly re-created in painstaking detail by the TC tone technicians, right down to every last component in the circuit, bringing you the best digital amp modeling experience available. The goal here went beyond technical measurements, as TC also wanted to capture the authentic and genuine feel of this wonderful amplifier.

The list of features here is long, but JIMS 45 is also ready to rock right out of the box. Switch between the Green channel, based on the original amp’s circuit with a “master volume” set at 50% added after the tonestack, or the Red channel, the original amp’s stock circuit, which did not have a master volume control. Add in up to +18dB of on-board Boost, and dial in your perfect sound with 7 parameters, including Normal and High knobs that control normal and bright gain, respectively, a Presence control, and a 3-band EQ section. The Boost can be set Pre- or Post-Amp, for a variety of flavors, and the D.I. options integrates the official Celestion Digital impulse response of a revered 4×12 cabinet loaded with G12M Creamback speakers. TC Electronic has also added some optional modifications, so you can tailor the pedal to your liking.
