I love good aesthetics when it comes to pedals – visuals are the first things that draws you in, and today’s design sparks immediate and playful interest. The FROG Pedal from FruitFX Pedals and Jordan.Wav is exactly what you think from first glance: a pedal that sounds like a frog. This is no throwaway or child’s toy, however, as it is an instantaneous source of fun and sonic exploration. Sounding great on its own or mixed with other effects, this one is ready to rock right out of the pond…
Developed in collaboration with guitarist and content-creator phenom Jordan.Wav, the FruitFX FROG Pedal brings his original Frog Pedal to life in a refined and reliable form. This monophonic octave down pedal delivers a sound best described as a frog, only channeled straight through your instrument! Originally handmade piece-by-piece by Jordan himself, this pedal has been carefully streamlined for improved reliability, consistency, and now comes in a more compact enclosure. Whether you want one or two octaves down on guitar or bass, the Frog Pedal is always ready to ribbit.
The FROG is quirky! It’s analog, not digital, so there are some things you may notice – these aren’t bugs, but features of this unique pedal:
-This pedal is monophonic, meaning it really only does one note at a time. Chords won’t sound great, it’s better to play melodies or lead lines with this pedal.
-Some notes might not track perfectly and a few notes might not track at all, especially on the high and low end of a guitar or bass. Use the Frog knob and your neck pickup to get the best tracking.
-This pedal is very sensitive to transients, so picking or playing loudly on a guitar or bass will yield different results than plucking or medium level picking.
I really couldn’t stop playing the FROG Monophonic Octave Down once I plugged it in. So, if the demo video goes a little long, just sit back and enjoy it, will ya? I love a good collaboration pedal, and FruitFX Pedals and Jordan.Wav have come together to make a unique and excellent-sounding effect that can do a lot with a simple control section. Visit the FruitFX website to snag one of these for yourself, and don’t forget about our demo (subscribe, too!) – CHEERS!! RIBBIT!!
