When I started demoing pedals from Discomfort Designs back in 2021, I knew they had something special brewing. Starting from simple distortion circuits, they’ve evolved into creating wild, outlandish machines that test your very will, and excite your musical prowess in the process. Today’s pedal keeps their evolution going – My Continuing Battle With The Queasy Feels is a stereo multi modulator that’s once again hard to put into one specific category – blurring the relation between time, depth and repetition can really spice things up, as you’ll soon find out…

My Continuing Battle with the Queasy Feels — a ‘roll your own’ style modulator. Need a flange? We can flange. Chorus? Can do. Vibrato and modulated delays in here too. Where My Continuing Battle with the Queasy Feels stands apart from other devices is in instability features. The Melt knob will bend and deform the modulating LFO for irregular wave shapes, and at extreme settings will skip cycles of the LFO all together. This allows for quasi-random modulation in any setting.

The Jitter feature creates movement for the other parameters, and is geared toward making unexpected things happen. A three way toggle allows choice between none, ‘a little’, and ‘a lot’ of Jitter. There are momentary functions for each of the foot switches, too – momentary on from a bypassed state, and hidden ramping and ring modulation ‘while on’ features. You can also get this unit as a Desktop version, with the same guts as the standard version, but with pushbuttons instead of footswitches.

Tranquility is…fine, sure. But sometimes, things need to be disrupted. My Continuing Battle With The Queasy Feels might be the answer at times like these. We may not crave total chaos, but we do need motion, unpredictability and the sense that things are shifting in a way we can’t completely control. We’ve got a pretty lengthy demo for you all – be sure to check it out on YouTube, and visit the Discomfort Designs website for more info and ordering, cheers!!
