After being able to check out the super-amazing QUIMERA Polyphonic Synthesizer Sampler from our friends at Bananana Effects a couple weeks ago, I was curious how they were going to try and compete with such an amazing effects unit. Well, the answer has come to us, in the form of the TARARIRA Arpeggiator Pitch Shifter Sequencer, and while these two are completely different, they share a love of experimentation and sonic wonder. Come along as we investigate the marvels that lay in store for us with this incredible piece of musical gear…
The TARARIRA is arpeggiator that has been equipped with an 8-step sequencer with simple operations that you can easily edit the sequence. It features 27 scales with 3 editable scales that can be configured by the user, 8 different effect modes that are capable of create everything from practical to experimental sounds, and 9 sequence effects are also useful for tricky performances. You can also save up to 9 favorite presets and switch between them seamlessly, and, as this pedal is basically a pitch-shifter, it fits all kinds of musical instruments and microphone inputs.
TARARIRA is a capacitive touch keyboard – by touching any of the 8 “●”, you can instantly play their respective pitches. It has a wide variety of modes, including easy-to-use normal pitch shift, organ sounds, hold mode for layering phrases, synth sounds using oscillators, GLITCH for sequencing delays with different playback speeds, and TOYBOX for sequencing effects one after another. It also features basic church modes such as the Ionian scale, as well as a variety of scales for easy phrase-making such as the pentatonic. In addition, three editable user scales are provided, allowing you to use any scale.
Tap Tempo, MIDI sequencing, four different envelopes and more…the TARARIRA really has something for everyone. And even if you *think* it’s not something for you, by the time you get done playing with it for 20 minutes, you’ll be convinced it has to become a major part of your setup or rig. There’s a lot more info and ins-and-outs available over on the Bananana Effects website, so be sure to head there so you can see just what you’re really getting yourself into. Head to our YouTube channel first, though, so you can get some visuals and some sonic samples of just what the TARARIRA Arpeggiator Pitch Shifter Sequencer is capable of…you’re gonna dig it as much as I did, promise!! Cheers!
