From the beginning with the Blessed Mother Overdrive, Heather Brown Electronicals has been putting out unique effects circuits, ranging across a number of different genres, and they’ve all been simply spectacular. Continuing that tradition today is Heather’s latest release, the Clean Break Boost, a seemingly simple three-knob gem that will push your amp into the sweet zone with just a minute or two of configuration. There’s a lot of range in this pedal as well, as you’ll see and hear as we dive right in…
The Clean Break lets you hit the front of your amp in all the right ways. This isn’t just a simple volume bump, it’s a precision tool. Clean Break is built to give you control over your gain structure, providing a full-spectrum push that adds muscle to your sound and makes your rig feel more alive. The heart of the pedal is a fully active Baxandall-style EQ that allows you to sculpt your top and bottom end with symmetry and precision. Tighten up the lows or boost the highs to help cut through a dense mix. Push it further, and the circuit naturally transitions into wideband gain, driven by the op-amp’s feedback for a more expressive lift. Rather than just making things louder, Clean Break allows you to refine the frequency response as you increase the volume, giving you the flexibility to shape exactly how the gain hits your amp. Two selectable voicings provide even more range: Warm for a thick, traditional response, and Bright for a higher treble shelf that adds clarity.
Features:
• Volume, Treble, and Bass controls
• Active Baxandall EQ
• Bright/Warm toggle switch
• Wideband gain available at higher settings
• Up to +15dB of clean boost
• Up to +25dB of max gain
• Low-noise floor
• Selectable true/buffered bypass modes
• Silent soft-touch switching
• 100% analog signal path
• Standard +9V DC
Sounding amazing on its own, or when paired with other dirt pedals, the Clean Break Boost really changes the dynamics of your tone, without altering it too much, or in any sort of bad way. I love how it just gives my amps *that* extra push, or it can really get gritty if the situation calls for it. Whatever you need, this one is there in a pinch, and is an amazing always-on tone-shaper, too. Thanks once again to Heather Brown Electronicals for sending another beauty of an effects pedal over for me to check out – be sure to visit Heather’s website for ordering and more info, and head to our YouTube channel for a demo to see and hear this baby in action – cheers!!
