After checking out the Aquanaut Delay/Echo, Velcrow Gated Fuzz and Dead Zone Low Fidelity Filter from Berserker Electronics, I couldn’t wait to see what they had in store next. The Moldy Peach wasn’t what I was necessarily expecting, but it quickly blew my mind and rocked my world. Blending two favorite effect styles together to form one massive beast of a pedal, this is a revolutionary dirt device that surprises you around every corner…
The Moldy Peach starts in familiar territory with rich hard-clipping drive, then lets you push the circuit into something meaner, rougher, and more unstable. The Moldy Peach delivers thick, chewy overdrive with plenty of character – it’s a dirt pedal that can stay grounded in muscular overdrive or lunge into nasty, decaying fuzz without losing its personality. Tight, filthy, chewy, blown-out. The Moldy Peach lets you dial in exactly how rotten you want it.
The Mold knob is the heart of the pedal’s personality, shifting the response from Drive to Fuzz. Turn it one way and the Moldy Peach stays tighter, punchier, and more focused. Turn it the other and it grows hair, splatter, and broken-speaker chaos. Rot controls the gain, taking you from gritty breakup to full-on saturation, while Pulp shapes the tone, from thicker, heavier lows to sharper, more cutting bite. The Decay LED shows the clipping action as it happens, giving you a visual pulse of the pedal’s grind and compression as the circuit starts to really break apart.
The Moldy Peach Organic Fuzz Drive builds on the already impressive lineup of pedals from Berserker Electronics, blending two classic effect genres together in new and exciting ways. If you’ve been on the hunt for something different and inspiring to add to the dirt section of your pedalboard, this orange beauty is just what you’ve been after. Thanks as always to the Berserker crew for sending another gem my way to check out – there are several more from their latest releases on the way, so check back here and stay tuned! Be sure to visit the Berserker Electronics website to order a pedal of two for yourself, and don’t miss our demo on YouTube – cheers!!
