Retro-Sonic Distortion

There’s something about a really rad distortion pedal that just sounds right when you engage it and crank up a good amp. It’s hard to describe, but you know it when you hear it, whether it’s at your band’s practice or on a recording or when you’re the member of an audience at a show – you can just feel that the sound and tone fit perfectly with the music. The aptly-named Distortion pedal from Retro-Sonic gives us all of those feels, providing a wide range of sounds from distorted blues to classic rock to metal and more….

Based on an LM308 op-amp design, the Distortion features a simple but snazzy control section, filled with multiple controls to dial in the exact tones you’re on the prowl for. Level, Tone and Distortion are the 3 main knobs, all working in tandem to bring you a wide array of tonal flavors. A three-way mini toggle switch adds more to the mix, giving you the choice between asymmetrical-diode, LED or symmetrical-diode clipping. If that wasn’t enough, you can open the pedal up and check out two internal thumbwheels, to adjustment to the frequency response of the gain structure.

The Distortion is built using metal film resistors, film capacitors, and a double-sided circuit board for noise-free operation. Sound vaguely familiar to a certain rodent-themed black pedal, it conjures up incredible distorted tones, overdriven bliss and a vast spectrum of sounds that are useful in a ton of different situations, live and studio. It seems like everything that Retro-Sonic puts out turns into a real gem, and the Distortion here absolutely falls into that category. Be sure to check out their site for more info on it and their whole lineup, and the demo below will give you a bit of an idea about what this pedal can do.
