Valeton Dapper Acoustic Mini Multi-Effect

The fine folks at Valeton have been sending pedals and gear my way since 2019, and the products truly keep getting better and better. After a couple of high-performance multi-effects units (GP-150 & GP-180) and a wild drum machine sampler looper (VLP-200), we’re going a little more basic today, but in an excellent way. I don’t get acoustic pedals in the shop here very often, but I’m always excited when I do, especially since I get to show off my 1971 Martin D-35 – come along as we check out the Dapper Acoustic Mini Multi-Effect!

Dapper Acoustic Mini is a seriously potent effects strip with all the essentials for acoustic players. First in line is a stealth, fast and accurate tuner so you can play confidently in tune. Press and hold the REVERB module ON/OFF switch to enable the TUNER. When this module is activated, Dapper Acoustic Mini will be MUTED. Give your incoming signal some focus with the COMP module, which features the warm, punchy sound of a classic rack-mount compressor. Use the COMP knob to lay the squeeze down and the ATK knob to go from bouncy to tight compression. Next, perfect your core sound with the PREAMP module – here, you’ve got a powerful 3-band EQ for tone sculpting, a notch filter to eliminate unwanted feedback, and a volume control so you can stay heard.

Finally, give your song some sweet depth with the REVERB module. This one knob wonder recreates the ambience of a performance hall with natural decay. You also have the option to plug your headphones into the PHONES jack for practicing with effects, which works great when you need to hone your skills in silence – use the PHONES knob adjusts the output volume when using your headphones. You can also use the XLR OUT jack to feed a balanced signal to your audio interface (for recording) or to a mixer (when you go straight to the house) – to see/hear this in action, check out our demo!

There’s nothing like sitting down on a quiet day and strumming your favorite tunes on an acoustic guitar, but when you have a pedal like the Dapper Acoustic Mini Multi-Effect on hand, that experience is nothing but enhanced. The range here is so nice, too – you can add a little bit of flavor, or go more extreme and really knock your listeners out in ways they might not have thought possible.
