Kingsley Harlot v3 Tube Overdrive 1

I’ve been hearing about the amazing pedals from Kingsley for years now, but their high price point made it hard for me to ever get my hands on one…until now. On loan from my good buddy Carl P., I’m bringing you the Harlot v3 Tube Overdrive today. I know, I know, they already have a v4 out in the world, but there’s nothing wrong with this version whatsoever, as you’ll soon see and hear. Overdrives with real tubes in them are never a disappointment, and that streak continues easily with this powerful, expressive unit…

The Kingsley Harlot is a hand-wired tube overdrive pedal built around a single 12AX7 vacuum tube driven at high voltage, with an FET (field-effect transistor) stage that pushes the tube into saturation. It’s designed to give you authentic tube breakup and dynamic overdrive in a stompbox format — unlike typical solid-state pedals, it behaves much more like a driven tube amp. The simple but powerful layout lets the tube circuit and your playing dynamics do most of the expressive work.

The Harlot is known for:

Warm, dynamic overdrive: Not just gain — it reacts to pick attack and guitar volume changes like a real amp.
Wide range of grit: From mild tube breakup to mid-gain crunch and more aggressive rock tones when driven harder.
Expressive feel: Players often describe it as fleshing out the amp’s natural tone rather than just adding distortion.

Players typically use the Harlot in front of tube amps to add musical breakup and personality, to replace or augment amp gain stages with a tube-rich dynamic drive, or for expressive solos using the “More”/mode boost. Because it’s tube-based and touch-sensitive, it responds well to volume rolling and picking dynamics, making it versatile across blues, classic rock, and mid-gain rock tones. It’s ideal if you want tube amp character on your pedalboard, with touch sensitivity and rich harmonics that typical transistor pedals don’t quite replicate.

You plug it in. You click the footswitch. Your eyes widen. Your ears perk up. Your guitar shakes your hand and says “Thank You.” All of this and more happen in an instant when you get your grubby mitts on a Kingsley Harlot Tube Overdrive – whatever the version may be. You can hear and feel the love that goes into building these machines, and I’m so stoked I was finally able to get one into the studio and make some magic. Check out our demo to hear it in action, and, if you can find and afford it, don’t hesitate to pick one of these beauties up for yourself! Cheers!
