The Quantum Time Modulator from our friends at Pigtronix is an extremely fun, fairly easy-to-use modulation pedal, with lots of possibilities and sonic exploration to be had. Not your typical chorus pedal, this guy doubles as a sort of Uni-Vibe as well, all with a simple, easily accessible toggle switch. The controls are pretty straightforward, but the ranges in both the Chorus and Vibrato modes are BIG, and will put a smile on your face from the moment you engage the pedal in your chain.

The all-analog path warms your signal immediately, not like some of the harsher sounds digital chorus-type pedals can produce. Using state-of-the-art internal components (multiple bucket brigade delay lines with independent clocks), the Quantum Time Modulator can go from a subtle tone shaper to an all-out shimmery, waterfall chorus sound. Flick the toggle down to the Vibe setting, and it’s Hendrix Time, dialing in the sweetest, lushest Uni-Vibe tones around. Combine this setting with a bit of overdrive or a nice mellow fuzz, and one of the all-time most spectacular and sought-after tones will come POURING out of your amp. This pedal will re-produce sounds from Andy Summers’ work with the Police to the great Alex Lifeson and Rush’s ‘The Spirit of Radio’. Move easily from the classic rock sounds of Boston’s first album to the gorgeous opening notes of ‘Come As You Are’ by Nirvana, and even more modern stuff like the Chili Peppers newer tracks and more.

A great 2-in-one pedal, the Quantum Time Modulator can dial in a gajillion different warm, broad, rich sounds, ranging through the past decades of brilliant guitarists’ and their signature tones with ease. Simple controls reveal a somewhat complex array of soundscapes, but once you find your unique voice, it will become a big part of your overall individual sound for year to come. Thanks to Peter and all at Pigtronix for the opportunity to test out this awesome pedal – go buy some of their gear!
