Is the ‘hold effect’ somehow adding/removing the natural harmonics from the fundamental tone? What sorcery is this?!

I have a couple ZCAT’s. This one as well as the Big Reverb. They are very solid and sound great! I find the hold function very useful. One little issue I have with this pedal is that the regular hold when engaged is quieter than the hold+chorus, so I usually use the hold+chorus with the chorus dialed back. The delay is very basic and rarely gets used but it is good to know it is there if I need it.
